Fall at the door. / Scary guest posts?
Forget the words of house Stark. House Gragg's words are far better.
FALL IS COMING. And, look at that! It's practically here! In fact, Fall is standing on your doorstep, its pumpkin head grinning wide with sunken eyes flickering yellow. Dressed in a dapper suit, thin and tall, Fall is holding candy in one bony hand and tricks in the other. And with its third hand, oh yes, the one growing out of the pale flesh of its back--the hand hiding in the leafy shadows your porch light won't reveal...
So yeah. Fall's here. That's great. Good stuff. And while I may be super pumped for all the 'basic-white-girl' shit (pumpkin spice this and that, happy-dappy-funtastic hay rides, and more mutha funkn pumpkin spice) I am doubly excited for the spooky and macabre which comes with the arrival of the greatest month of the whole chicken-licken year: October.
But, what I'm always really excited for (I know, there's so much excitement), is the storytelling which surrounds Halloween. There's nothing quite like sharing real spooky stories with friends. Huddling around a bonfire with cider or all curled up on the couch with the space heater beating the cold back into the corners of the room, its a treat.
It seems like everyone has their own spooky or unexplainable tale. And if they don't, they know someone who does. I recently put out a blast on social media and asked if anyone would be interested in sharing some personal real-life spooky stories as guest posts here on the blog, and there were actually quite a few bites. SO, let me see if I can wrangle some people into writing up some stuff. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Regardless, fall is here. It's time to get spooky.
If you're one of those amazing people interested in telling a tale--whether you've expressed it yet or not, PM me, DM me, MSG me, @me, comment here, send a smoke signal, or call up spirits from the dead and send them after me, promising them rest only after they've delivered their tale.
